Flood disaster: Current situation in Nepal – we hope and wait

August 30, 2026

The devastating floods in northern Nepal have deeply affected us. Areas in Rasuwa and along the Trishuli River are particularly hard hit – a region with which we have close ties through our projects and many personal friendships.

We are in close contact with our friends on the ground. However, we are still missing news from some people we haven't heard from. We are particularly worried about Sonam, the mother of the three children we are supporting. She was in Timure, very close to the border, at the time of the disaster, and unfortunately, we haven't been able to contact her since.

As long as we lack certainty, one thing remains above all: hope.

At the same time, we are already receiving many messages from people asking if and how they can help. This concern and willingness to help touches us deeply.

We cannot yet say where our help is most urgently needed and what form it will take. We want to wait for reliable information from Nepal first and then work with our friends on the ground to determine what is truly needed.

But what we can promise today is:

WIR BEWEGEN will help.

As soon as we know where our support will be most effective and immediate, we will provide an update. As with all our projects, we want to ensure that the aid reaches the people affected directly.

Until then, our thoughts are with our friends in Nepal, with the many families who are missing loved ones or have lost everything – and especially with Sonam and her children.

We're still hoping. ❤️🙏🏻
