Goats for caste, Salyankot

2024

During my visit in September 2022, Narayan told me about a village (Kaste, Salyankot) in the Dhading region that was also in dire need and could greatly benefit from animals.

In the spring of 2023, Narayan visited the village to see the situation for himself. According to his report, the people there are very poor and live somewhat scattered throughout the area. We therefore promised that Kaste would be our next village for the goat project.

Sixty-five families live in Kaste – we divided the village into two groups in consultation with the residents. On the one hand, 65 goats need to be financed, and on the other hand, acquiring such a large herd as a whole is not so easy.
On November 25, 2024, we were able to hand over 65 goats and two breeding bucks to the village of Kaste, thanks to another donation from the Lions Club Hochwald-Hermeskeil (DE) and crowdfunding.
Our personal expenses, such as flights, hotel, and meals, were again paid privately.

Project Information

Expenditure: CHF 14,456

Approximate costs: +/- 175 USD per animal
+/- 15 USD transport per animal,
2,000 USD for two breeding bucks.

The actual costs were slightly higher because we hired two additional people to gather such a large herd.

As of December 2024 - Goats handed over
We successfully delivered the goats to the village of Kaste in November 2024. A travel report will be available in the news section soon
As of February 2024 - we are approaching the goal
The project is fully funded. Narayan will now set everything in motion so that the residents of Kaste receive their animals this year.

We're flying to Nepal in the fall to visit the village and see if all the animals have arrived safely.
As of March 2023 - Visit to the village
We now have the exact information. The village's location can be found on the map below, along with some impressions of the village. Now we need to collect donations again – please help us!
As of September 2022 - The idea
Narayan will soon find out how needy the people are; how many families live there exactly; and also where exactly the village is located.
