32 cows for Bhumesthan | Crowdfunding
Now that the reconstruction of the houses is complete, at least in financial terms, we would like to support the families for the future by sustainably improving their livelihoods.
To achieve this, we would like to give each of the 32 families a young, healthy cow.
On the one hand, milk offers you the opportunity to produce products that you can sell in the surrounding villages; on the other hand, it would also be healthy for the many children in the village to be able to consume more dairy products.
This idea was developed in consultation with the village committee, which also handled the local administration during the reconstruction.
Project Information
To keep the price reasonable, we would buy very young cows that will only be able to give birth in one to two years. This would mean we would have to budget approximately $170 per family per cow, including transport to Bhumesthan, which equates to about CHF 5500 for 32 cows .
Cows are sacred in Nepal and are therefore given special care. The village also has plenty of greens for fodder, and the locals are familiar with many natural remedies. A doctor can also be called if needed. The animals will certainly be well cared for in Bhumesthan.
We are delighted with the extremely positive feedback and the great participation in our crowdfunding campaign "Cows for a Village in Nepal".
We reached the 100% mark in just 11 days, ultimately raising CHF 6350.
The collaboration with " I care for you " was great - all in all, we would say a successful first crowdfunding project!
Thank you so much for your fantastic support of our project.
In December we will fly to Nepal again, afterwards we will gladly report on our progress and experiences.
