Scholarship transfer difficult: stricter controls

July 11, 2025

This year we also transferred the scholarships for 16 children.
Unfortunately, I just got a call from Narayan: the bank holds the money back because WIR BEWEGEN is not a person. We have never had this problem in the past ten years. It is increasingly being tried to control the money that comes into the country - it is "shameful". Now we see whether the money will come back or whether it will hopefully be forwarded to Narayan. However, I am confident that the money has arrived at the school in good time at the beginning of the school year and that all children can continue their training.

Addendum July 12, 2025
Narayan has now received the money - minus $ 5% + $ 5. This because the money came from an "agency". It is becoming increasingly complex to transfer - everyone wants to enrich themselves everywhere. Once again an example of how corrupt this country is - Nepal is still part of the poorest countries in the world. But even on relief goods and funds, "taxis" will be charged - which in the end will definitely end up in a private bag.
I'm something acidic and hope to find new ways ...

What do we learn from it?
In the future, we will no longer process transactions directly via the association CONTO. So far, we have already deliberately transferred smaller amounts to both private accounts and the association discount in order to keep individual transfers low. Since the authorities are increasingly checking the money flows into the country, we will use the name " WIR BEWEGEN " even more carefully in the future. If, for example, the government came across our website and recognize how much we have moved in Nepal in recent years, consequences could arise that we would rather avoid avoid.
