Medical help

July 3, 2015

The residents of Bhumesthan are very poor. Since the nearest hospital is around a seven-hour walk away, these people rarely go to a doctor. Our goal is to support the population until the government provides better medical care.

If a resident from Bhumesthan reports an emergency or necessary treatment to us, the association the costs.
We will briefly report on any support in the “The stories behind the project” section.

Project information

Project status 2020

We hardly receive any requests for medical help. When we ask, we are told that there were no emergencies and that the village community was able to organize itself. Of course, it's nice for us to see that we're certainly not being taken advantage of. However, we continue to offer this service to the residents of Bhumesthan and their friends, because we know how difficult and, above all, expensive it is to go to a good doctor there.

Medical location Bhumestan
A planned government hospital project near Bhumesthan has been progressing very slowly since the earthquake.
Medication

When we visit Bhumesthan, we always bring around 10 medicine bags.
This includes, among other things, Voltaren gel, painkillers, bandages and fever-reducing medication for babies...

Nothing ventured nothing gained

The stories behind the project

We are keeping this rarely used offer because at least we were able to support a few people.

    Sujan Nepal - eye surgery

    2016 | 325 CHF

Sujan's left eye was crooked from birth, which caused him to squint a lot. For example, he had problems moving safely in the terrain and so he could never have become a trekking porter, guide or something similar. After he finished school in February 2016, the operation was successfully carried out in May - we covered the costs. Everything has now healed well and Sujan, with a lot of new self-confidence, started training as a security guard in August 2016. Further training to become a trekking guide followed in 2018.

A boy living in the region cannot speak. He is already 20 years old, but this disability is a big disadvantage. He can't find a job to earn money. His parents are very poor, but support the boy as best they can. We supported this family with $150. So that the money cannot be wasted pointlessly, Arjun gives the family almost $40 every three months, so that they have at least some relief for a year.
