32 cows for Bhumesthan | Crowdfunding

October 5, 2017

Now that the reconstruction of the houses has been completed, at least from a financial perspective, we would like to support the families with a view to the future by sustainably improving their livelihoods.

To achieve this, we would like to give all 32 families a young, healthy cow.

On the one hand, the milk offers you the opportunity to produce products that you can sell in the surrounding villages; On the other hand, it would also be healthy for the many children in the village to be able to consume more dairy products.

This idea came about in consultation with the village committee, which also regulated the local administration during the reconstruction.

Project information

Cost per cow

To keep the price within reasonable limits, we would buy very young cows that will only be able to give birth in one or two years. So we would have to calculate around $170 per family for a cow including transport to Bhumesthan, which corresponds to around CHF 5,500 for 32 cows .

Cow husbandry in Nepal

Cows are sacred in Nepal, so they are particularly looked after. The village also has enough greens for fodder and there are many natural medicines available as medicine. If necessary, a doctor can also be called. The animals will certainly do well in Bhumesthan.

Crowdfunding successful

We are very pleased about the extremely positive feedback and the large participation in our crowdfunding “Cows for a Village in Nepal”.
We had already cracked the 100% mark in 11 days and ended up raising 6,350 CHF.

The collaboration with " I care for you " was great - all in all we would say a successful first crowdfunding project!

Thank you very much for your great support on our project.

We'll be flying to Nepal again in December, after which we'll be happy to report back on the progress and what we've experienced.

Nothing ventured nothing gained
