We introduce ourselves
The association WIR BEWEGEN was founded by Maya Baas, Narayan Nepal, Tobias Flöscher and Christian Rupp in August 2015.
Our goal is to implement the most sustainable projects possible in Nepal.
Narayan handles matters on-site, ensures everything is running smoothly, and keeps us informed.
Here in Switzerland, we are constantly raising funds so that our ideas can be implemented.
We all work on a voluntary basis for the association .
information
When we heard about the earthquake, we created a few pages on our personal website to inform our friends about the cause we were raising money for. We never imagined that we would raise over 10,000 CHF within a week. We gladly accepted the trust placed in us and will continue to do our best in the future!
When we witnessed at the beginning of our project how easily and without red tape we could make a real difference for these people, our motivation grew even stronger.
Tobias and Christian have known each other since they were children. Maya joined them in 2007, and since then, the three of them have often traveled together.
In 2010, they experienced the adventure of a lifetime. That's how they met Narayan and many other Nepalese people.
When Narayan visited Switzerland in 2016, Maya and Christine's paths crossed. Their shared enthusiasm for Nepal and its people quickly led to the development of shared ideas.
Even though we only see Narayan rarely, the time we do spend together is very intense, as we're often crammed into a vehicle for hours. In the village, the community lives together, and there are hardly any places to retreat to. Through countless long conversations, Narayan and Maya quickly discovered that they share the same values. Material things are secondary; rather, our lives are about experiences, discovering new things, and gratefully giving back the privileges we have.
We are very grateful to Narayan for his willingness to share his stories – that through his father and his studies he knows all the deities, traditions and stories of his country so well and can introduce us to new peculiarities on every visit...
We brought home many wonderful stories and experiences from our travels. The humility of the Nepalese people and their simple way of life make this country a special travel destination.
It's the little things that make traveling there so special. The friendliness and contentment of the people, even though they live more than modestly by our standards. The generous gestures that are incredible compared to our possessions.
The landscape is very diverse. From breathtaking mountains, some of the highest in the world, to hot jungles teeming with wild animals, you can find it all.
Even after ten years, we are grateful for the trust you have placed in our association . During this time, you have supported us with over CHF 100,000 – an incredible sum that has enabled us to positively change many lives together.
After the birth of my twins, I wasn't sure if I would have the strength to continue the project. However, my visit to Nepal in 2022 showed me once again how much our commitment achieves. The encounters and stories of the families and children we have the privilege of supporting deeply impressed me and gave me renewed motivation.
In recent years, the goat project has become another sustainable initiative that we consider particularly meaningful and forward-looking. Our motto – "if we work at it, it will be possible" – accompanies me daily, even as a small reminder on my arm.
We're still not marketing professionals and prefer to stay in the background. That makes us all the more grateful for the number of people who support and share our journey. Together, we've not only been able to rebuild houses, deliver cows and goats, and award school scholarships, but above all, we've given hope.
Thank you so much for your trust, your generosity, and your loyalty – none of this would be possible without you. We promise to keep at it and achieve great things, one small step at a time.
Thank you for being part of WIR BEWEGEN .
The people behind it

Maya Baas
Maya is the driving force behind the association . Her creativity and willpower constantly propel the project forward.
She lives with her husband and their twin daughters in the Zurich Oberland region.
"I greatly value my friendship and the many conversations with Narayan. It is enriching to know someone who has the same mindset, the same values in life – even though we grew up in completely different worlds.".»

Narayan Nepal
Narayan lives in Kathmandu with his wife and two sons (born in 2017 and 2023). He takes his role in the association very seriously. He meticulously assesses who is most in need and considers how we can best utilize the available funds. In doing so, he is mindful of the unique characteristics of the Nepalese people, which would be difficult for us to understand. Although they themselves live modestly, he does not accept any payment from the association for his work—the gratitude of the people and the small gestures he receives are far more valuable to him.
We are grateful to have "stumbled" into this role. Working for WIR BEWEGEN is very fulfilling. It makes us happy and also a little proud to see that we have already been able to clearly improve the lives of so many people. Narayan & Maya

Arjun Nepal
Arjun, Narayan's brother, lives in Bhumesthan with his wife, three children, and mother. He works at the school in Phulkharka, giving him a good understanding of which families in the region rely on scholarships.
He has done excellent work over the years. Since the scholarships aren't sufficient for all children from poor families, he also considers those who are particularly motivated and talented, ensuring the money is invested as effectively as possible.

Christian Rupp
Christian repeatedly helps us find donors and supports us wherever we are most needed.

Tobias Flöscher
Thanks to him, Maya can take the time to work on the projects again and again, while he looks after their two children.

Christine Herzog
Christine met Narayan during her long-term involvement in Nepal.
She actively supports the association whenever good ideas or help are needed.
