News from Grang: Goat project & children's clothes

March 30, 2025

Three years later:
How the goats and people in Grang are doing

In 2022, thanks to a very generous donation from the Lions Club Hochwald-Hermeskeil, we were able to give goats Grang We are now receiving many pictures and videos from the village showing that the goats are thriving, many are pregnant again, and lots of kids are running around the village.

Of course, two years is a short time to expect major changes. Wealth doesn't happen overnight – but the goats are already helping families make small but important progress. Selling milk or offspring helps secure medical care and pay school fees for the children. Because that's precisely what the additional income is primarily used for: health and education – the best investments in the future.

Furthermore, many families are saving their additional income to sustainably improve their living conditions. Some plan to replace their simple houses, often still made of corrugated iron sheets, with more robust building materials to provide better protection against cold and rain. Others want to purchase larger water tanks to store enough water during the dry season and reduce the frequency of the long, arduous trek to the nearest spring. Some families also hope to eventually acquire tools or animals, such as cows, to further expand their sources of income.

We were also able to fulfill another request during our last visit. On our first visit to Grang , we didn't have enough children's clothing to give to everyone. launched clothes for Grang project , and last autumn we returned to Nepal with three large bags full of clothes; these have now been delivered to Grang . We also provided notebooks and pens for the students. The children were overjoyed – and the new clothes are a great relief for the families, especially during the cold months.

Thank you to everyone who made this project possible! Your support makes a difference – even if the biggest changes take time.

The villagers are particularly proud of their pregnant goats – many of the pictures sent in show exactly that, because for the people this is a sign of hope and progress.

And here are some pictures of many happy children with their new Clothes .
