Trip postponed

November 6, 2015

We are very concerned when we follow the situation in Nepal.

The country urgently needs supplies, and fuel is needed even more urgently to drive reconstruction - but the blockade on the border with India still exists and there is no end in sight.

For this reason, with heavy hearts, we had to postpone our second trip until the end of February.

The people in Bhumesthan want to show us how the donated money is being used and how the reconstruction is going - that would be impossible until we arrive in two weeks.

It wouldn't even be guaranteed that we would be able to travel to the village. The political situation is difficult to assess.

After the earthquake, Narayan told us, it was the Chinese who helped and did very valuable work - India, on the other hand, would have sought the limelight of the newspaper lists rather than provide help with a constructive plan. It is therefore hardly surprising that China is the first bright spot since the blockade.

The first fuel deliveries are expected to arrive in Kathmandu this week. The country is lost without the help of its neighbors.

India or China - there is no other way. For us this means that we now have a little more time to prepare for the next trip and will continue to provide as much information as possible about the situation in the country.
